| Week of Sunday 9/5 The SEED School of Washington DC presents Little Shop of Horrors September 10 and 11, 7:30PM September 11, 2:00PM Ticket Hotline: 202-248-3040 $10 general admission (adults, ppl over 18) $7 general admission (students/children 5-17) Under age 5 free. The SEED School of Washington DC presents their annual play, "Little Shop of Horrors." A down-and-out skid row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon "Audrey II" grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B- singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite, finally revealing itself to be an alien creature poised for global domination! The SEED School presentation is cartoonish in style allowing the audience to see that the world is very fake, but the people that live on Skid Row are very real. The characters presented in Little Shop of Horrors are all people that we know in the real world. The cartoonish presentation and set design, juxtaposed against serious, real actors forces the audience to listen to the words of the show - allowing the audience to believe the show is truly an extension of reality. |

On March 22 in the Recital Hall, Bowie's own Craig Leland Sparks will play in the Recital Hall at 2:00 PM. Sparks is well-known in the local arts community as the Musical Director of the Bowie Senior Chorale, but his talents include that piano as well. The Center is looking forward to a fine afternoon's entertainment! Finally, let me draw your attention to the photos below. These shots, courtesy of Technical Director Randy Whitcomb, are from the first concert in the Seasons of Music series here at the BCPA. Washington DC area promoters Yolanda Hunter and Kevin Opher have assembled a wonderful Jazz series of three or four concerts that will be playing at the Center in April, August, and October. They provided the spot light truck and BCPA staff got into the spirit and added some nice touches as you can see. |
Have a great month! (And don't forget to join us for some great entertainment as well!)
